Here’s that waterfall we tramped to in the last post…

January 9th, 2010The Pinnacles

On Wednesday we conquered The Pinnacles. It was the best tramp I’ve ever done.

Praise the Lord for the beauty He has created, and for enabling us to enjoy it.

It takes eight hours and is usually done as an overnight hike… for wimps.

We summited in two hours.

(Admittedly that pace was far beyond my comfort zone.)

December 18th, 2009back country

Gives me a buzz every time I see the mountain.

There is still a fair bit of snow to melt before we climb it at the end of summer.

Aaron, Jacob and Jonny

Aaron, Jacob and Jonny

It was Zac’s 18th BD yesterday. We went on a four hour tramp in the Kaimai Ranges. It rained like crazy for days before. It stopped raining and we started the tramp. It started again. We got wet. December 29th, 2008sentinel rock and the ninnies

sentinel rock and the ninnies

Behind the ninnies you can see the spectacular views of Sentinel Rock on top of the Kaimai ranges, and surrounding countryside (near Katikati).

Between the ninnies and the background you can see a tropical storm.

I’ve wanted to go up there for years, and this morning was the appointed time. It seems I’ll have to go back another time to see the rock.

We had great fun. The rain added to the whole experience! There would have been no mud on the steep climb without it.

We did the 4-5 hour walk (12km) in 3 hours, and were back for lunch.
