June 2nd, 2009winter begins


Monday was a holiday, and the first day of winter. We headed south on a beach crawl. The weather was awesome.

Sunday night a week ago (yes I’ve been slack). (This week the waves were bigger… too big for some people.)

Most people had wandered off down the beach, but the real men stayed and dealt with the rest of the meal.

Yesterday we rocked up on the beach at 4 o’clock and decided to build a sand castle. Then we decided to defend it from the tide.

Yesterday we went down to Pilot Bay and sailed throught the port area. The the rest of the team brought lunch down to the bay.

The tide and wind were favourable, so the others sailed the boat home and I picked them up from Te Puna.

February 10th, 2009sunday night

Most Sunday nights during daylight saving, we can be found having a picnic at the beach or at the harbour after Church. This Sunday we stayed rather late eating Double Chocolate Mud Cakes which Michaela had made. :)

Dad wanted us out the way of the harbour lights. ;)

We hadn’t sailed since last year… oh, wait, since yesterday.

Oh well, we went sailing again today. Sailed to a private beach on an island for lunch. (The Thornes paddled there on their kayaks, and with someone else’s… maybe I shouldn’t say that bit.)

We thought the day was alright.

Through a set of circumstances (that were entirely unforeseen at breakfast time) we were sailing to Motuhoa Island for dinner on Friday night.

We had a great sail in ten 10-15kts of breeze.
