What Americans call weed whacking we call weed eating (and Aussies call whipper snipping) (wimpy).

When a Kiwi goes weed whacking, this is what it looks like…


He kept it up for a long time, and took out metres of weeds. He then went back the next day in the rain to carry on.

I’m not sure what motivated him. Apparently the people who put the temporary road in past our house – and promised to put it back to how it was – reached a deal with the locals that they would leave it how it is now. I’m not sure how that works, but it’s best for everyone. :^)

April 15th, 2009estuary battle

On Good Friday we all walked around the peninsula of one of the estuaries at the far northern end of the harbour.

Today’s harvest is Delicious, Black Krim, Tigerella, Russian Red and Gardener’s Delight (which are the best!). They’re all heirloom varietys. :)
